A multi-stage PSA combined process was adopted to treat 95,000 Nm³/h syngas, achieving effective separation of hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. The product purity reached 99.9%, 99% and 99.5% respectively. The PSA system was configured with twelve towers and had an impurity buffer unit. The on-site installation period was 10 months, and the factory prefabrication rate reached 75%.

This project is the core gas separation unit of the 500,000 tons/year coal-based ethanol project . It is the largest gas separation device for coal-to-ethanol projects in China in terms of scale. The designed processing capacity of the device is 95,000 Nm³/h of syngas, and it adopts a multi-stage pressure swing adsorption (PSA) combined process to achieve effective separation of components such as hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide. The operating pressure of the device is 2.8 MPa, and the purity of the product hydrogen is 99.9%, the purity of carbon monoxide is 99%, and the purity of carbon dioxide is 99.5%. The PSA system adopts a twelve-tower configuration and has a dedicated impurity buffer unit to ensure stable product gas quality. The on-site installation period is 10 months. It uses three-dimensional digital design and modular manufacturing, with a factory prefabrication rate of 75%, significantly reducing the on-site welding workload. The device was put into operation in 2022, providing qualified raw gas for the ethanol synthesis section. The annual processing capacity of syngas exceeds 750 million Nm³, achieving efficient gas separation and resource utilization in the coal-based ethanol production process.
